iFood and PepsiCo come together to make donations to Gastromotiva

New partnership will double the amounts donated in the app by customers to benefit the NGO in the fight against hunger

Until March 23rd, iFood will join forces with PepsiCo and its philanthropic arm (the PepsiCo Foundation) to donate resources to the Gastromotiva NGO, which promotes transformation and social inclusion through nutritional education, professional training in gastronomy and fight against hunger, with the distribution of meals to people in socially vulnerable situations.

This is the proposal of the campaign donations “Multiplicando Sorrisos”, started on February 15th. During this period, the amounts collected from donations made through the iFood app will be doubled by PepsiCo until reaching a total of R$ 330 thousand made available for this campaign.

“The Multiplicando Sorrisos campaign aims to enhance the food safety and professional training work that Gastromotiva carries out. We are confident that with this union and the support of PepsiCo and iFood we will impact many more lives with Social Gastronomy in 2023”, he states David Hertz, co-founder and president of Gastromotiva.

The organization uses gastronomy as a tool to generate income and promote positive social impact by combating hunger and food waste. Since its founding in 2006, the NGO has distributed more than 3.5 million meals.

Inclusive gastronomy

In addition, Gastromotiva offers professional training so that low-income people can enter the job market and start a business in the gastronomy sector. Its Solidarity Kitchens serve more than 80 communities in the country with free, nutritious meals, and train cooks and social entrepreneurs, in addition to promoting nutritional education and sustainability in the food cycle. 

“We are very proud of our relationship with Gastromotiva, as we are talking here about a powerful project, present in all regions of Brazil, and which literally makes all the difference, as it feeds, educates and transforms the reality of many”, he states. Gastromotiva is also one of iFood's partner NGOs. In 2022, donations collected on the app yielded more than R$ 696 thousand to Gastromotiva, which turned into 66,889 meals for 19,985 people experiencing food insecurity.

“We are a delivery company that 'takes food' to millions of people across Brazil and we understand, with this, that it is our role to use our technology to support populations in vulnerable situations, bringing quality food to those who need it most. ”, says André Borges, head iFood's sustainability plan.

How to donate to the “Multiplicando Sorrisos” campaign

Anyone who uses the iFood app can donate to the “Multiplicando Sorrisos” campaign in two ways:

  • Go to the “Profile” tab, click on “Donations” and choose Gastromotiva to donate the amount you want, without there being a linked order.
  • At the time of order completion, when the donation option for Gastromotiva will appear. In this case, you can choose the rounding of cents from the order price to the nearest full value or choose values already predefined on the platform.
