iFood begins a new stage to encourage and assist in enabling the use of non-polluting modes in the delivery system, after tests carried out in partnership with VOLTZ.

The company is preparing to launch, in the coming weeks, in an unprecedented way in the delivery segment, an electric motorcycle exclusive to its delivery partners. The new motorcycle aims to bring more savings to the daily lives of delivery people.

Furthermore, another goal is to reduce fuel and maintenance costs by up to 70%, compared to a combustion motorcycle.

Thus, the initiative was developed to reinforce the company's environmental commitment, bringing solutions with a positive impact. In this way, it adds to the investments already made in electric bikes to reach 50% of clean deliveries by 2025.

The pre-sale of electric motorcycles will offer discounts and financing facilities, including lower rates.

iFood delivery partners interested in the electric motorcycle will be able to start purchasing the vehicle at VOLTZ.

The use of the electric mode should have a positive impact on the delivery person's pocket by facilitating the purchase of a vehicle that has lower maintenance and running costs. A delivery person who travels, for example, 2,000 km per month has a monthly cost of around R$380 for gasoline (considering R$6.55 per liter).

As for the electric motorcycle, this cost would fall to a fixed value plan, considering the battery exchange system, generating savings of more than 60% for the delivery person in fuel alone. Also considering the savings on vehicle maintenance, the cost for the delivery person drops by 70%.

Environmental benefits of the iFood electric motorcycle

In addition to generating a more economical solution for deliveries, the partnership focuses on benefiting society by reducing CO2 emissions in urban centers.

The forecast is that, by the end of 2022, around 10 thousand electric motorcycles from the VOLTZ and iFood partnership will be on the streets. This will prevent the emission of up to 30 thousand tons of CO2 that would be released into the atmosphere in one year.

“Our encouragement and assistance makes it possible to scale up the use of yet another electric mode option for delivery people. In addition, boost compliance with UN Sustainable Development Goal 13, which requires action against global climate change. It will also offer solutions that are financially rewarding for our delivery people”, says André Borges, head of sustainability at iFood.

With this initiative, iFood maintains its position as a pioneer in commitments involving innovation with a sustainable bias. Therefore, always aiming to bring solutions with a positive impact that revolutionize the delivery market.
