iFood transfers more than R$ 3.8 million to 7 NGOs in the 1st quarter

iFood transferred more than R$ 3.8 million raised in five donation campaigns with partner NGOs in the 1st quarter of 2022 — check out how the resources were used.

In the first quarter of 2022, iFood transferred more than R$ 3.8 million in donations to its seven partners —Ação da Cidadania, CUFA, Gastromotiva, Gerando Falcões, Orgânico Solidário, SOS Mata Atlântica and Todos pela Educação. This value is added to the R$ 14 million raised in donations made by customers on the iFood app and in partnership with companies, in 2020 and 2021.

From January to March, funds were raised in five donation campaigns; the main ones focused on emergency support for people affected by heavy rains in the country. In January, the campaign had national coverage, while in February and March the focus was help victims of storms in Petrópolis (RJ).

Most of the fundraising took place between February 9th and 22nd, in a campaign that delivered 140 tons of food to community entities in Petrópolis. “This action implies the survival of the affected populations. Right now, people have no food, no home, no place to cook. That's why they need help from entities that act in an emergency. In a tragedy, you need to get to the end as quickly as possible”, says Rodrigo Kiko Afonso, executive director of Ação da Cidadania.

Between January and March, iFood customers allocated R$ 1 million to Citizenship Action, the oldest partner of foodtech in social actions. The NGO has a network of more than 2,000 partners to benefit around 4 million people in the most vulnerable regions of the country.

Already the CUFA (Central Única das Favelas) received R$ 1.8 million in three campaigns to help Brazilians affected by the rains in ten states (Acre, Alagoas, Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, São Paulo and Tocantins) and in the Federal District. This amount made it possible to donate 15,300 food baskets — including baskets with 13.5 kg of food and food vouchers worth R$ 100.

Between February and March, the emergency campaign in Petrópolis (RJ) allocated R$ 341 thousand for Gastromotiva, which distributed 18 thousand lunch boxes in recyclable packaging and R$ 298 thousand to the Organic Solidarity, which donated 5 thousand baskets with 6 kg of organic fruits, vegetables and greens.

Education and environment

In the first quarter of 2022, education partners —Generating Falcons It is All for Education— received R$ 107 thousand in donations. In the environmental area, the campaign carried out in partnership with SOS Mata Atlântica donated R$ 236 thousand to the NGO (and another R$ 50 thousand was donated by Heineken). 

Added to the amounts raised in previous months, these donations allowed the planting of more than 50 thousand seedlings of species native to the biome in Porto Feliz (SP) and Marabá Paulista (SP). This new planted area corresponds to 10 football fields and will remove 8,400 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
