Ação da Cidadania and iFood came together to encourage donations with the aim of helping the emergency situation that occurs due to the heavy rains that hit the region of the city of Petrópolis (RJ). From February 16th, the campaign will direct donations received by the organization to support people affected by the situation until it persists.

To contribute, iFood users can make donations starting at 2 reais by clicking before completing the order and also through their “Profile”, through the “Donations” tab. The platform's donation system is easy, fast and secure, and guarantees that 100% of donations will be passed on to the entity.

“We want to expand support to people who are living in situations where there is a scenario of food insecurity and today we see the population of Petrópolis lacking this help”, explains André Borges, Head of Sustainability at iFood. “In the emergency situation that occurred between December 2021 and January 2022, we were able to make a difference with support to the south of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Maranhão and Piauí, and that is why we are creating this task force again. More than two million reais were donated, which turned into 288 tons of food for people who needed support during this critical moment.”

iFood has supported actions to combat hunger since 2017 through Citizenship Action. The entity was foodtech's first partner in the donation program and has already raised a little more than 1/3 of the total donations made by customers, which represented over 107 thousand basic food baskets distributed to more than 4 million people in food insecurity.

How to donate

iFood has a space in its application to encourage donations in a simple and reliable way. In the cart, before completing the order, with one click in the app, the customer can contribute to partner NGOs, with donations starting at R$2. This initiative seeks to provide partner non-governmental organizations with better fundraising potential. The causes supported by the donation campaigns are related to food security, education and the environment. The other way to donate through the iFood app is through the “Customer Profile”, in the “Donations“, where it is possible to choose one of the entities to support with the amount the customer wants.
