iFood grows in December and records a record number of orders placed in a single day

The first days of the month are already 14% higher than the same period in 2021. On December 3, the company received 2.8 million orders, the highest number made per day

With the arrival of the end of the year festivities, iFood, a Brazilian technology company, recorded a growth of 14% in the number of orders when compared to the first 12 days of December 2022 with the same period of the previous year. The number is already equivalent to more than half of the orders placed in the entire month of December 2021 and is the best start to the month in the last 12 months, being 16% greater than the average number of orders in previous months of this year.

Furthermore, last Saturday, the 3rd, saw its best order performance in a single day, totaling more than 2.8 million orders. The number is equivalent to around 32 requests per second and more than 115 thousand per hour – which is equivalent to almost 36 Maracanã stadiums full.

The results achieved are the result of the investment that the company has made over the last year to improve the quality of the service offered and also the experience of the entire ecosystem, made up of delivery people, partner establishments and customers.

The day's performance exceeded the orders placed on the app, in the last edition of Black Friday, on November 25th, by around 17%. Furthermore, on the weekend of December 2nd to 4th, the company also broke sales records on the platform. From Friday to Sunday, the company received more than 8 million orders for meals and purchases in the market category. Thus, the first weekend of December was not only the one with the most orders in 2022 but also surpassed the weekends of 2021.

Among the main orders at partner restaurants are: hamburgers, meat and chicken dishes and sandwiches (wraps). In relation to orders via the express market, which makes ultra-convenience deliveries in up to 15 minutes, the drinks category leads the ranking where out of 10 orders, 9 are for beer and 1 for soft drinks, followed by banana and milk items. The habit of delivery is already a reality in the daily lives of Brazilians, which is why iFood is present at different times, whether at the end of the year or during celebrations such as the football world cup.
