The initiative carried out with public authorities has already qualified more than 500 delivery drivers in Brazil. Training will bring knowledge about traffic precautions and first aid to help other drivers.

Londrina will be the first city in the interior of Brazil and the first in the state to receive the project.

On March 8th and 9th, the City of Londrina (PR) and iFood will come together to bring together delivery drivers from the platform who seek to increase their safety information and traffic precautions.

In-person classes are held at the War Shooting Battalion and everyone will learn important notions about road safety, first aid and what to do in the event of an accident, whether directly involved or not. The course will include theoretical training, a first aid course and practical classes. Londrina will be the first city in the interior of Brazil and the first in the state to receive the project.

In addition to Londrina City Hall and iFood, the initiative will have the support of CMTU, the Department of Health, SENAC and Federal Deputy Luisa Canziani.
At the end of the course, delivery drivers will receive a personalized helmet that identifies them on the streets as “Angel in a Helmet”, as well as basic first aid equipment, a jacket, some safety kits and a training certificate.

“We want delivery people to be agents who help change the reality of traffic and make it safer for everyone.”, says João Sabino, director of Public Policies at iFood. “Anjos de Capacete shows the importance of these professionals in society and now we are offering knowledge that will help not only in their daily lives, but in the safety of the citizens of Londrina.”

“The training for delivery drivers is very interesting and will be welcomed. It is an important partnership with a strong and expanding company, like iFood. We are a prominent hub in the information technology sector and related areas, for example, and the city has all the necessary structure to embrace these initiatives”, stated Marcelo Belinati, Mayor of the city of Londrina.

iFood has taken Anjos de Capacete to different regions of the country. Unprecedented and pioneering in the training and qualification of these workers, transforming them into important road safety agents, it is in its seventh edition and has already trained cyclists and motorcyclists in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Recife, João Pessoa, Maceió and Rio de Janeiro.

In addition, throughout the year, different awareness actions are carried out on safe driving, in addition to the initiatives that iFood promotes to guarantee the physical well-being of the delivery person. Among them, the distribution of personal protective equipment, accident insurance, access to health benefit plans, protection funds in cases of illness, among others, stand out.

“This course is extremely important for workers in the sector, whose main objective is to collaborate and support their families, providing technical information on defensive riding, such as behavior in curves (roundabouts), proper use of brakes, importance of light clothing that will provide better safety when driving the vehicle, avoiding accidents”, highlighted the CMTU Traffic director, Major Sérgio Dalbem.
