iFood will give US$ 6 million to anyone who creates circular packaging for delivery

In partnership with Xprize, the company will raise US$ 20 million to hold a research competition on sustainable packaging

IFood wants to reduce the impact that delivery boxes, pots and bags have on the environment. To achieve this, in partnership with Xprize, foodtech will hold an innovation competition that encourages the development of circular food packaging. In total, there will be US$ 10 million in prizes for the selected teams.

The idea is that the teams focus on developing biodegradable and flexible packaging, which is safe for human consumption and can be produced on a large scale.

The group that takes first place wins the grand prize of US$ 6 million. The second team in the ranking takes US$ 2 million, and the third place team gets US$ 1 million.

The contest has an additional US$ 1 million to give away when participants reach certain milestones during the competition.
