iFood participates in the World Economic Forum

Company is part of global alliance to create a more equitable future of work

iFood participates for the first time in the World Economic Forum, which will take place between January 15th and 19th in the city of Davos, Switzerland.

This year, creating jobs for a new era will be one of the four key themes of the event, which each year brings together political, business and civil society leaders to discuss how to create social and economic improvements for the world.

On January 17th, the president of iFood, Fabricio Bloisi, will participate in a dialogue with other leaders and experts on the disruptive impact of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence and how to promote long-term development in Latin America.

On the same day, Luana Ozemela, vice president of impact at iFood, will be on a panel at the World Economic Forum on how to advance racial and ethnic equity. Alongside executives from other companies, she will discuss ways to accelerate the reduction of inequalities, with a view to generating profit and fairer economic results, simultaneously.

Why is iFood going to the World Economic Forum?

iFood is the first Brazilian company (and from gig economy) to participate in the Good Work Alliance —a global and intersectoral group linked to the Forum and which brings together companies committed to building a more dignified future of work.

Therefore, its executives are going to Davos to participate in discussions about the future of work. In addition, they will share what iFood has been doing in relation to topics such as income, education, combating discrimination and encouraging diversity.

iFood is part of the Good Work Alliance since 2023. “It is a tremendous opportunity for iFood to be a pioneer in these discussions and to learn in this global scenario. And part of this is also being present on the agenda in Davos”, says Luana.

“More than a million people generate income through iFood, such as restaurants and delivery professionals, so our perspective is valuable”, adds the executive.

What commitments will iFood take to the World Economic Forum?

At the World Economic Forum, iFood will address four new commitments in the areas of diversity and inclusion and employability and education:

– Address 100% of reports of cases of discrimination with legal and psychological support (when triggered by the delivery person) by 2024;

– Reach the target of 100% for delivery drivers aware that iFood offers legal and psychological support in the event of discrimination and knowing how to use it by 2025;

– Ensure that 100% of delivery drivers have access to training, courses and educational tracks by 2025;

– Enable and encourage the completion of the basic educational cycle for 100% of the delivery driver base so that they graduate from high school.

In the Good Work Alliance, iFood, alongside 40 other companies, contributes to the World Economic Forum in designing a new framework in relation to work, based on five objectives:

  • Decent income
  • Education
  • Anti-discrimination and diversity
  • Health and wellness
  • Flexibility and social protection

The company, of course, also dreams big. “It would be phenomenal to create a global commitment to decent work on demand on platforms”, comments Luana.
