Deliverers talk about the importance of iFood insurance

Second video in the “Abrindo a Bag” series, from the Much More Than a Order campaign, deals with the free coverage offered to those who work on the platform

“What if I’m going home and have a fall?” asks delivery man Adriano at the beginning of the second video from the Much More Than a Request campaign, which features testimonials and real stories from these iFood partners (the videos can be seen on company channel on YouTube and on its digital platforms).

The answer is simple: iFood is the only food delivery company that has offered all delivery drivers, since 2019, free insurance in case of personal accidents, which covers medical and hospital expenses and reimburses emergency dental expenses up to the value of R$ 15 thousand.

Subscription to this and all other available insurances is automatic and is carried out as soon as the delivery drivers' registration is activated on the platform. This means that the 200,000 professionals active on the iFood app are already covered.

As a pioneer in the delivery sector, iFood also covers cases of temporary injury with compensation of up to 70% of the average earnings of the previous 30 days, with a limit of R$ 700 per month. “I had an accident, but I didn’t know it was that precise, no, that agile and easy,” says delivery man Bruno in the video. David agrees: “In my mind, it was bureaucracy.”

There's nothing bureaucracy involved: to activate insurance in the event of an accident, simply use the Delivery Portal or the application, following these steps: Side Menu > Delivery of Advantages > Personal Insurance > Activate Insurance.

QAnyone who has questions can clarify via WhatsApp (11) 93488-0672. To activate insurance coverage, you must access the website http://sinistrosifood.parceiroseguro.com.br.

The service channel for inquiries, queries, request status and more information is the telephone number 0800 725 2144, which is open every day, 24 hours a day. Anyone who prefers email can write to insurance.ifood@marsh.com.

Another iFood insurance coverage is permanent disability or accidental death, compensation that can reach R$ 100 thousand. “I didn’t know about life insurance,” says delivery girl Elaine.

More protection for women and families

iFood insurance covers not only accidents that happen during deliveries, but also those that occur when delivery people are going to the establishment or returning home (within two hours and/or 30 km from the moment of the last delivery). .

On any of these occasions, the insurance can be activated by any member of the delivery person's family. “It’s good to let everyone know, pass it on to the family. I feel protected”, says Agnaldo.

In 2022, coverage was expanded, in partnership with MetLife, to bring more protection to delivery women and their families, with the offer of maternity leave of R$ 500, compensation of up to R$ 10 thousand in cases of breast and cervix and financial assistance of up to R$ 100 if the delivery woman needs to be absent from work to look after the children in case of illness or accident.

There was also an increase in the value of funeral assistance and the inclusion of compensation to support the studies of the children of delivery people, in the event of the death of the professionals.

Delivery men and women can access the complete list of insurance offered by iFood on website dedicated to the topic or in the Delivery of Advantages. “It doesn’t mean we can go out and fight everywhere”, laughs Adriano. “But we feel safe on the street, we know we have someone’s support. It was great to know that if I have an accident I will have attention. My family won’t be in such need.”
