5 interesting facts about the electric motorcycle that will be used at iFood

Do you know how the electric motorcycle that will be used by iFood in 2022 works? Discover five interesting facts about her here.

Did you know that this motorcycle has 70% less costs than the conventional one?

In 2022, around 10,000 iFood delivery people will be driving a different vehicle through city streets: the EVS Work electric motorcycle. Developed by Voltz, it joins bicycles in the effort to achieve the goal of carry out 50% of deliveries in non-polluting modes, by 2025.

The big difference between an electric motorcycle and a conventional one, with a combustion engine, is that it is a sustainable and non-polluting vehicle, in addition to reducing fuel and maintenance costs for the delivery person by up to 70%. Do you want to know more about the electric motorcycle? Here we reveal five interesting facts about her.

Maintenance costs are lower

The electric motorcycle engine is smaller and less complex, it has fewer internal components — pistons and cylinders do not exist, as in the combustion model. Furthermore, its parts are less worn out when operating with electricity than when burning fuel (which generates waste, for example). Therefore, the electric motorcycle needs less maintenance and does not require lubrication.

It can be recharged at any outlet

The battery that powers the motorcycle's engine can be recharged at any outlet — yes, even a common household one will do. Once plugged into the power source, the total battery recharge time is six hours. iFood's delivery partners will not need to use energy at home, as they will be able to recharge the motorcycle at gas stations and change batteries.

It will avoid the emission of 30 thousand tons of CO2

By the end of 2022, it is expected that around 10,000 electric motorcycles from the VOLTZ and iFood partnership will be on the streets. This could avoid the emission of up to 30 thousand tons of CO2 that would be released into the atmosphere in one year.

Your engine doesn't make any noise

The electric motorcycle reduces air and noise pollution as well. On a conventional motorcycle, the engine is powered by small “explosions”, which is why it makes noise. In the case of an electric motorcycle, this does not happen: the engine is powered by electricity and does not emit any noise.

It's lighter, there's no tank or exhaust.

Because it is powered by electricity, it does not need a tank (and, as it does not emit gases, it has no exhaust). Another curiosity: its engine is located at the rear, and not at the front, like in combustion motorcycles.
