Fabricio Bloisi joins the XPRIZE Innovation Board, which already includes Elon Musk and Peter Diamandis and companies such as Google and IBM Watson. The nonprofit foundation wants to launch big ideas through incentive awards to catalyze new technologies and innovations to solve humanity's biggest challenges. Founded by Peter Diamandis in 1994, XPRIZE has already awarded 25 prizes with a total of US$290 million distributed, and brings together millions of supporters from around the world, including Elon Musk, sponsor of the XPRIZE competition focused on carbon removal. Bloisi joins XPRIZE months after the launch of the US$100 million Carbon Removal XPRIZE funded by Elon Musk, the largest incentive prize in history.

São Paulo, Brazil – June 2021 Fabricio Bloisi, president of iFood, a Brazilian bigtech reference in Latin America, is the newest member of the board of innovation of XPRIZE, a California-based nonprofit that seeks to attract great ideas to encourage cutting-edge R&D. Led by founder and executive chairman Peter Diamandis, the organization wants to leverage its platform to create and catalyze new ways to solve and alleviate humanity's greatest challenges, such as zeroing out carbon dioxide emissions and increasing knowledge of the rainforest ecosystem and biodiversity, in addition to expanding the use of artificial intelligence. XPRIZE has the support of global companies such as the Elon Musk Foundation, Google, IBM Watson.

“We deeply believe that in the future companies will take on a role beyond their businesses and will solve problems in our society and with global urgency. Technology has changed people's lives, the way we pay bills, how we travel, how we interact and how we eat. We currently innovate with agility in building a sustainable ecosystem for customers, partners and society. Now, let's scale innovation for the benefit of humanity. Let's promote technology and inovation leading Brazil to develop excellent research, as a lever in the transformation against urgent global causes such as large-scale carbon removal and guarantee a more promising future for our country and the world”, highlights Fabrício Bloisi, president of iFood.

Launched on April 22, 2021, the Musk Foundation, Elon Musk's philanthropic arm and XPRIZE launched the largest prize pool in history totaling over US$100 million with a focus on carbon removal. Now open for recruitment, the organization seeks large-scale projects that extract and store carbon dioxide from the Earth, rebalancing global emissions. The idea is to find major proposals that can remove up to 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year in a sustainable way.

The Alana Institute-supported XPRIZE Forest has allocated US$10 million to reward research projects of global excellence, to accelerate the innovation of autonomous technologies needed to assess biodiversity and improve understanding of rainforest ecosystems.

In addition, awards stand out for other great causes, such as the XPRIZE Feed The Next Billion, which allocates US$15 million to food insecurity solutions, and the Rapid Reskilling XPRIZE (US$5 million), aimed at developing professionals in vulnerable situations focusing on the digital revolution. XPRIZE Rapid COVID Testing has committed US$6 million to develop a faster, cheaper and easier COVID-19 detection test.
