iFood releases donation balance for the second quarter of 2022

Amounts donated by customers on the app helped NGOs distribute more than 261 thousand meals to those who need it most

In the second quarter of 2022, the seven NGOs supported by iFood distributed 261 thousand meals, 6,297 food baskets and benefited more than 42.7 thousand people, in addition to planning the planting of 6,338 tree seedlings. All this was done with the resources of donations made in the app, which reached R$1.6 million. With this, the company surpassed the milestone of R$15 million donated since 2020.

As at the beginning of the year, the focus of donations was to help people affected by heavy rains in different regions of the country. Therefore, iFood carried out emergency campaigns aimed at flood victims in the states of Alagoas and Pernambuco.

Anyone using the iFood app can make these donations in two ways. One is to select, in the “Profile” tab, the “Donations” option and define the institution and the amount. Another is to choose an amount when finalizing the order — the amount is shared among the seven organizations.

In partnership with Ação da Cidadania and CUFA (Central Única das Favelas), the money received was donated to tons of food, hygiene items and mattresses, donated to those who need it most.

CUFA was the organization that received the most donations in the second half of the year: with R$ 575,701 transferred, the NGO distributed 4,392 food baskets and 456 mattresses to more than 20 thousand people affected by the rains in the Northeast.

“It is a great satisfaction to be able to help families who need it so much. Bringing food to people who are unemployed and supporting mothers in the favela makes us grow personally and as a group”, declares Maria Helena Souza Santos, volunteer at CUFA Parque Santo Antônio, in São Paulo (SP).
