Unpublished research by Instituto Locomotiva states: iFood has the best performance in relation to care and communication with the delivery person during the pandemic

The Instituto Locomotiva iFood Survey was a survey carried out by the platform to based on the opinions of delivery people.

When was the Instituto Locomotiva research for iFood carried out? 

The Instituto Locomotiva iFood research brought together the reports of 1,241 delivery drivers, including men and women, collected between April 23 and 26, 2021, in a national square.

The methodology was carried out with quantitative telephone research with a structured questionnaire. The margin of error is 2.8 percentage points

Thus, among the main points, interviewees reported knowing iFood's preventive measures and that they felt more engaged in acting during the pandemic.

Furthermore, most delivery drivers claim to have maintained or increased their income from deliveries during the period. 

Finally, the overwhelming majority of delivery people said they intended to continue working with app deliveries even after the end of the coronavirus pandemic.

What does the Instituto Locomotiva research say for iFood? 

The Instituto Locomotiva iFood research study showed that 56% of delivery drivers had activity on the app as main source of income, and for 4 out of 10, the app is the only source of income.

Furthermore, among those interviewed, more than 80% of the delivery drivers know at least one measure taken by the applications. Because of this, the assessment of the measures had an average of 8.7 by the delivery people.

Among delivery companies, iFood presented the best performance in terms of care and communication with the delivery person. 

Respondents reported that the company's actions, such as contactless delivery, health benefits plan, protection funds, distribution of alcohol gel and masks, for example. This made them more engaged to act more safely with deliveries during the pandemic.

Because of this, 92% of the delivery drivers said they intended to continue working with app deliveries even after the coronavirus pandemic ends. 

Finally, the study points out that 94% see more flexibility in composing their schedules when working with app deliveries.

iFood measures to support its delivery people against Covid-19

In total, the company has invested more than R$14 million in actions exclusively for delivery drivers related to the coronavirus pandemic. Are they: 

  • Fund of R$2 million for couriers with symptoms of the disease or part of risk groups;
  • Distribution of hygiene kits consisting of alcohol gel and masks;
  • Health service plan with discounts of up to 80% on medical consultations, exams and medications;
  • Initiative to double the value of tips given in the period between 1 and 30 April 2021, totaling R$4.4 million distributed;
  • Finally, the extension of the benefits program Delivery of Advantages to all couriers in the country, with discounts on various services, especially for their vehicles.
