iFood increases delivery drivers' earnings with adjustment of the minimum fare and km driven

Minimum fee per route increases from R$ 5.31 to R$ 6 and the increase in the minimum value per kilometer driven increases by 50%, from R$ 1 to R$ 1.50. The measure will benefit all active couriers on the platform

São Paulo, March 18, 2022 – iFood announces increased earnings for all of its more than 200,000 delivery partners who provide services through the platform. From April 2nd, on a permanent basis for these workers, the minimum value of the route increases from R$ 5.31 to R$ 6, and the minimum value of the kilometer traveled increases by 50%, from R$ 1.00 to R$ 1.50. As a result, the delivery person who previously received at least R$ 10 for a 10km delivery, for example, will now receive at least R$ 15.

Due to the dedication to constantly listening to delivery drivers and attention to variations in the macroeconomic scenario, in almost 12 months, this is the third time that iFood has promoted readjustments for these partners. Previously, the company raised earnings in April and November 2021.

As iFood's Logistics Director, Claudia Storch, highlights, the company has spared no effort to ensure the dignity of delivery people who use the platform. “We listen and understand our partners. We are continually looking for solutions that promote improvements in our relationship and in the day-to-day work of everyone who works with iFood. We have been following the market and we know our role in generating more and more opportunities for the ecosystem where we operate. We reviewed processes, did calculations and organized ourselves in order to increase profits, in a current difficult economic scenario, and minimize the effects of rising prices in the country.”

According to the company's projections, more than R$ 3.2 billion will be transferred to partners over the next 12 months. The adjustment will be valid for couriers of all modes and there are no eligibility criteria.

The concern with the appreciation of delivery drivers is not restricted to reducing the negative impacts of the economy on their well-being. iFood extends it to your safety, reducing maintenance costs for vehicles used for deliveries and educational programs, among other benefits:

  • Last November and January, the fund of R$ 8 million was in force to compensate for successive fuel increases;
  • The insurance policy against injuries that cause temporary absence from delivery activities was implemented in 2021. Since 2019, all workers already have personal accident insurance, without deductible, which covers emergency medical and dental care, total/partial permanent disability and accidental death.
  • Month after month, the Delivery de Vantagens program, which offers discounts in large retail chains, on cell phone plans and also motorcycle maintenance, has been expanded;
  • Free of charge, through AVUS, all more than 200 thousand delivery men and women and one dependent (with or without family ties) have access to affordable prices and discounts of up to 80% on medical and dental consultations, exams, support medicine, medicines and accredited pharmacies.
  • On the platform iFood Takes Off, delivery drivers can take several courses in the training program for the future of work, free or with a grant, whether in technology (such as programming) or in topics such as financial management, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, quality in deliveries and traffic legislation .
  • Furthermore, in January 2022, classes for the program began My High School Diploma, which provided delivery drivers with more than 2,000 scholarships to take the preparatory course for the National Examination for Certification of Skills for Young People and Adults (Encceja) and complete high school.
