I've Been Bag

The Já Fui bag initiative is one of several iFood initiatives to promote the recycling and reuse of some products.

In the case of this project, the delivery people's bags are the object to be recycled, which can generate a series of benefits for the environment and the community.

So, check out what Já Fui Bag is and some stories linked to the project.

What is the I've been bag?

The Já Fui bag is an action of reverse logistic from iFood, which aims to provide the correct destination for thermal backpacks from delivery drivers who are no longer fit for use.

Thus, instead of being discarded in landfills, the bags will become part of the circular economy and become part of the production cycle again, also generating employment and income for more people.

In partnership with startups GreenPlat It is Green Platform, little by little and with great commitment, the company implemented reverse bag logistics across the country and reached the mark of zero landfill in this process. In practice, this means recovering 100% from bags exchanged nationally.

What is the objective of Já foi bag?

The main objective of Já Fui bag is to ensure that delivery drivers' backpacks are not inappropriately disposed of in the environment, even if it is not an iFood bag.

To ensure that its products or food reach customers in good condition, iFood periodically changes bags that are no longer in good condition. Therefore, in every exchange, the platform will recommend returning the old bag. The objective, therefore, is for iFood to provide an ecologically correct destination for backpacks.

Where is the Já Fui bag material sent to?

Currently, part of the bag, especially the Styrofoam, goes for recycling, which consists of reusing the material.

Meanwhile, the textile part of the bag has two possible destinations: covers that are not in good condition go to co-processing. We will use this material to generate energy, following all industry standards and protocols.

The covers in good condition, in partnership with Shred, a company that promotes the circular economy of textile products, are transformed into new products, such as bags and fanny packs, for example.

This way, we give new life to each part of the material and reuse 100% from the bag, which brought warm food to our customers.

The stories behind the new Já Fui bag products

And behind Já Fui Bag, we also have great stories! And here they will be told by three people from the cooperatives involved in the project. A School of Mother, a partner of Retalhar (which includes the seamstresses who produce the bags) and Yougreen which recycles materials.

Dimbumba Frange is from Congo, arrived in Brazil in 2017 and soon joined Yougreen. He, who started sorting materials, tells us in this video about the importance of recycling for society.

For Herculânia Maria dos Reis, a seamstress at Cooperativa Cardume de Mãe, having her own income has always been fundamental. She is very happy to know that her work, in addition to income, also generates a positive environmental impact.

Meanwhile, Maria Rosalina Matos Ribeiro, known as Rosinha, who is part of the same cooperative, says she feels proud of the work she does. For her, sustainability is also a responsibility.

This is just the beginning of our revolution. We are highly committed to generating positive socio-environmental impact for our partners, customers, employees and society.
