Making traffic safer is a goal that cannot be achieved without educating those who are traveling on city streets. Thinking about protecting its delivery men and women, iFood invests in training and protecting these partners with actions that are not restricted to the month of May, when the Yellow May

R$ 15 million in insurance

As soon as new delivery people register on the iFood app, they automatically receive the free insurance coverage against personal accidents, accidental death, permanent disability and temporary injury. 

Since the first claim was opened in November 2019, more than R$ 15 million has been allocated to insured couriers. And, from 2022, coverage has been extended to give more protection for delivery women and families of all professionals.

“We focus on education and training to improve traffic safety. But we know that accident rates are high in Brazil, so on the other hand we created specific insurance to offer support to delivery people”, says Felipe Resende, business analyst at iFood.

16,700 trained delivery people

iFood delivery men and women can take training courses that address traffic safety in iFood Takes Off, the iFood educational platform. This way, they are prepared to drive more safely on the roads of large Brazilian cities. To date, 16,700 professionals have been certified in iFood's Traffic Safety courses.

12,565 cyclists trained

For those who use the electric bicycles iFood Pedal, O Responsive Pedal, a course offered in partnership with the Aromeiazero Institute, teaches traffic safety and care and responsibilities with the electric bike offered in partnership with Tembici. 

More than 12 thousand cyclist delivery drivers from Brasília, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo have already learned about their rights and duties and picked up some tips on how to make their daily lives better.

550 Helmet Angels

More than 500 delivery drivers have graduated Helmet Angels after taking a special course for accident prevention and traffic safety that includes first aid training. Until the end of May 2022, 550 bikers will display their white helmets on the streets, a symbol of those who graduated from the program and are prepared to help others.

“We are increasingly concerned about security. Delivery people need to feel safe to make everyday deliveries”, says Gisele Lafaeff, engagement analyst and one of the leaders of iFood's Yellow May campaign in 2022.
