Market delivery: what Brazilians order most on iFood

In 2019, only 9% of Brazilian men and women made their supermarket purchases online. But the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic changed this scenario and the preference for this type of delivery has accelerated. Result: two years later, this percentage jumped to 30%.

Furthermore, more than a third of people (35%) bought food using an app — all this data is from a survey carried out by the CNDL (National Confederation of Shop Managers) and the SPC (Credit Protection Service).

The option to market via the app has been offered by iFood since 2019, and the number of orders has grown almost tenfold by 2021. Since then, more than 33 thousand establishments have registered on the platform to offer food, drinks, convenience products, pharmacy and pet items.
