The exact history of ice cream, even today, remains a mystery. Some reports say that, during the 1st century, the Roman emperor Nero already consumed a mixture of snow, mountain ice and fruit toppings. However, there is evidence about its origin in China, around 4 thousand years ago. It would have been there that the dessert, typical of the elite, gained characteristics that led to its appearance and texture similar to what we see in ice cream today.
History points out that the Chinese emperor King Tang, between the years 618 and 697, prepared the dessert based on milk and rice with ice. At the time, as milk was considered an expensive product, the delicacy was restricted only to the elite. Its popularization only took place in 1721, when Marco Polo found a wide variety of frozen fruit creams in the Asian country. The recipe only emerged from there in the mid-16th century.
