Top 5: what Brazilians ask for most in the market via iFood

There are people who like fruit and there are those who want to satisfy their hunger quickly; find out what your grocery shopping preferences are

It's market day, but people from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are buying bananas, lemons and other fruits and vegetables without leaving home, using the iFood app. In the first half of 2022, this was the category that received the most market orders, repeating the success of 2021, when more than 128 million fair items were delivered by the company.

This virtual cart also includes the basic items we buy at the supermarket, such as milk, oil and instant noodles. These ingredients are generally used to prepare lunch or dinner from Monday to Friday — and selected from the 60,000 partner establishments on the platform.

A preference for supermarket delivery has been increasing in the country. In the first quarter of 2022, online orders in this segment grew by 12% compared to the same period in 2021, according to a survey carried out by Linx, specialist in retail technology, with data from Mercadapp, a sales platform specialized in e-commerce for supermarkets.

At iFood, the demand for this type of delivery is high: every second, seven market orders are placed on the app. Want to know what people buy most online? Check out the table below to see what customers’ preferences are.
