Donations through the iFood app guarantee food for millions of people

Inclusion is an essential pillar of iFood's culture. Find out how donating through the app enhances access to food for socially vulnerable people.

Leveraging donations to ensure that millions of people in social vulnerability have access to food is one of the inclusion commitments of the iFood, which recently became a signatory of the UN Global Compact. To this end, the foodtech has a donation platform on the app, launched in January 2020. Since then, the amounts donated by consumers have totaled almost R$ 6 million.

According to data from the Doação Brasil 2020 survey, from the Institute for the Development of Social Investment – IDIS, the pandemic affected the way the population views and contributes to social causes. According to the survey, Brazilians' priorities have changed in the last year. O combat hunger and poverty was cited by 43% of the population as being the most sensitizing cause in the last year.

“As a delivery company, which 'takes food' to millions of people across Brazil, we understand that it is our role to support the most vulnerable population, also taking food to those who need it most”, explains Gustavo Vitti, vice president of people and sustainable iFood solutions.

For Preto Zezé, national president of CUFA, one of the organizations assisted by the iFood donation platform, the initiative meets one of the most urgent needs today. “This is a time when the whole of society needs to come together, because hunger doesn’t wait. The partnership with iFood shows how, together, we can make a difference and save many lives”, he comments.
