iFood creates ecosystem of support points for delivery people

With more than 200,000 delivery drivers registered throughout Brazil, iFood has sought partnerships with public bodies, companies and restaurants to create support spaces for these workers who are in cities every day. These are called support points. Today there are more than 1000 spaces in 14 cities, where delivery people can use, for example, toilet facilities, drink water, use sockets and have a space to wait for orders to be prepared more comfortably. By the end of 2021, iFood's goal is to have 1200 points of support.

The first point of support was a pilot project in the city of São Paulo, in August 2020. In October of the same year, the project was expanded to Brasília/DF. In December, the points started to be flagged on the delivery person's app.

In March of this year, the first public-private partnership was formed, with the city of Osasco/SP.

Partnerships with restaurants

Most of the support points are currently the result of partnerships with restaurants registered with iFood. In return, they receive alcohol gel totems and have access to iFood Shop benefits.

Support points appear in the delivery person's application when he receives the order, indicating whether or not that restaurant is a support point.

Presence in the largest iFood markets

Points are currently available in the cities of São Paulo, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Goiânia, João Pessoa, Recife, Salvador, Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo and São Caetano do Sul.

In addition to partnerships with restaurants, iFood is also studying the creation of a wider network of support points through partnerships with public authorities and private companies, ensuring spaces that work in accordance with the region and in a complementary way to the ecosystem of points already installed. . “Our goal is to have, by the end of the year, 1200 support points throughout Brazil. We believe it is possible and we hope to have more experiences like the one in Osasco, where the city hall provided a public area that has already received more than 15 thousand visits”, explains iFood's Public Policy Manager, Felipe Daud.

Partnership with Orla Rio

In September 2021, iFood launched its newest and most innovative partnership, with support points for delivery people on the waterfront in the south of Rio de Janeiro. With a new delivery format on the beach, four stations were chosen to serve as meeting points and support for delivery people.

Therefore, at Stations 1 (Leme), 4 (Copacabana), 8 (Ipanema) and 11 (Leblon), the delivery person can meet the customer to deliver the order. The support point also offers delivery people the possibility of using the drinking fountains and bathrooms at these stations. In addition to them, the city of Rio has 80 support points.
