iFood creates space at its headquarters dedicated to mothers, fathers and babies

New area at the company's headquarters will house employees who need to care for children aged zero to three

iFood now has a new corner for employees who need to take care of their young children. On July 20, the company opened the iFood Baby Space at its headquarters, in Osasco (SP), with the presence of mom Priscila Conceição de Morais, the president, Fabricio Bloisi, and vice-president Gustavo Vitti.

This new environment is a reception area for those who need to take care of the baby or express and store milk during working hours. It is dedicated to fathers and mothers of children aged 0 to 3 years and accommodates four FoodLovers — as the employees of the company—at a time.

The iFood Baby Space has an area for children to play, a diaper changing table, a place to heat the baby's food and a hygiene area. In addition, there is an exclusive room for breastfeeding people who need to feed their baby or express and store milk during working hours.

The novelty was ready in time for World Breastfeeding Day (1/8), created by the World Pro-Breastfeeding Action Alliance (World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action) to promote breastfeeding and the creation of milk banks to ensure a better quality of life for children around the world.

Until the seventh of August, World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated, which takes place in 120 countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life and then combined with complementary feeding for up to 2 years (or more). That's why Breastfeeding Day is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Gender equity initiative

iFood understands that, to achieve gender equality, it is necessary to offer conditions for women to develop their careers and reach leadership. Therefore, Espaço Baby joins other initiatives, such as the iFamily program, aimed at all family configurations —biological mothers and fathers or adopters— and which offers six months leave for pregnant women and 60 days for non-pregnant women.

In this program, which is voluntary, all pregnant women can also count on a coaching career path from the moment the pregnancy is discovered until six months after returning from maternity leave.
