iFood directs donations in the app to help Petrópolis

To help victims of the rains in Petrópolis, iFood will direct donations received via the app to Citizenship Action — find out how to donate.

The amounts donated when completing the order in the application will be sent to the NGO Ação da Cidadania, which operates in the area

The city of Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, was hit by a strong storm on February 15, which caused flooding, floods and landslides that left many people injured or homeless.

To help those affected in the city and the region, the NGO Citizenship Action decided to direct the donations it receives from February 16th to them, for as long as the situation persists.

iFood, which since 2017 has supported combat to the hunger of Citizenship Action, will reinforce this solidarity movement and send the NGO the donations made through the app at the time of completing the order. Anyone who wants to collaborate will be able to contribute easily and safely: when placing an order, simply donate from R$ 2 to the cart at checkout.

Between December 2021 and January 2022, the iFood campaign with Ação Cidadania and Cufa raised R$ 2.1 million. These resources were converted into 288 tons of food to help victims of heavy rains in southern Bahia and also in other states, such as Minas Gerais, Maranhão and Piauí.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, the donations made through the iFood app at checkout and partnerships with companies raised R$ 14 million to benefit institutions such as Ação da Cidadania, Gastromotiva CUFA and SOS Mata Atlântica.

Citizenship Action, iFood's first partner in the donations has already collected a little more than 1/3 of the total donations made by customers — resources converted into 107.7 thousand basic food baskets distributed to 2,100 partner institutions across the country, benefiting more than 4 million people in situations of food insecurity.
