Bicycles (electric or not), drones, electric motorcycles and even robots. O future of delivery will increasingly have the presence of sustainable vehicles, non-polluting. At least in the logistical operation carried out by iFood in the connection between restaurants and markets and customers. This is what the e-book “Logistics innovation in delivery” launched by foodtech this Tuesday (31/5) shows.

The e-book is aimed at companies, entrepreneurs and partners who are interested in innovation and sustainability. The publication highlights trends in deliveries made by sustainable vehicles — all of which have already been tested and carried out by iFood — and the benefits for society.

“Here at iFood, the objective is that in the near future not only a large part of the population, but also delivery, will start using these types of non-polluting modes”, says an excerpt from the e-book.

O iFood Regenerates, iFood's positive environmental impact plan, works with two goals:

  • Making foodtech neutral in CO emissions2 (main polluting gas causing the greenhouse effect) by 2025;
  • End plastic pollution from your delivery.

It is always important to reinforce: sustainable vehicles that employ some level of autonomy, such as the drone and the ADA robot, do not replace the work of delivery men and women. They are used as part of the logistics process (in the first or last mile) to optimize the operation.

 How iFood innovates

The adoption of sustainable vehicles in delivery is the result of open innovation, a practice adopted by iFood in the most different projects. The publication launched this Tuesday not only shows the benefits of this approach with three golden tips for companies that want to create innovative and sustainable solutions.

  • Choose strategic partners
  • Choose a mentor
  • Think about sustainability from the beginning

 The e-book brings not only partnerships with other companies that generate innovative and sustainable (like the I've Been Bag, and the actions of improvement of recycling cooperatives, supplying solar energy for restaurants and traffic Safety), as well as iFood's three innovation commitments that can serve as inspiration for those who want to follow this path: environment, education and inclusion.
