iFood teams up with NGOs to raise donations for the Yanomami

Company allies with CUFA and Ação da Cidadania to transfer resources to indigenous people affected by severe malnutrition

On January 21, the federal government declared a state of public calamity in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, located in the states of Amazonas and Roraima, where adults and children were found in a state of lack of health care, affected by hunger and suffering from malnutrition and diseases such as malaria. This is the largest indigenous reserve in Brazil, with a population of 30 thousand people.

To collaborate with emergency and humanitarian action in the region, iFood reinforced its action with partner NGOs CUFA (Central Única das Favelas) and Ação da Cidadania to collect donations that will be destined for the Yanomami.

The funds raised will be used to enable the construction of two health units in the territory (one in the Surucucu Indigenous Health Center and another in a region that is yet to be defined) and in the distribution of portable water filters and water tank installations .

In the first two weeks of the initiative, R$ 380 thousand in donations have already been raised. Anyone who wants to contribute can make their donation directly in the app, in two ways:

  • In profile: make a donation at any time by opening the “Profile” tab and clicking on “Donations”.

In 2022, customers made more than 1.6 million donations on the app from iFood. With this, the company raised and transferred more than R$ 7 million, resources that impacted the lives of 5 million Brazilians.

“This is an action that is part of our emergency campaigns, in which we transform our application into a solidarity platform. We are using technology to facilitate the allocation of resources and contribute to those in need”, explains Flávia Rosso, sustainability manager at iFood. .
