Find out how Voluntary Delivery Points for recyclable waste work and where they are located

The implementation of PEVs (Voluntary Delivery Point) emerged as another of iFood's environmental commitment goals with an emphasis on waste recycling. Like this iFood Regenerates We encourage the recycling chain and encourage consumers to change their habits to dispose of waste correctly.

Check here how PEVs work and their main waste collection points.

How do iFood PEVs work?

We started iFood PEVs in June/2021. Today, we are in São Paulo and Ceará. We currently have 59 recycling bins, and with these, we are able to properly allocate, per month, an average of 305 tons of recyclable waste.

Furthermore, all these materials are intended for cooperatives or directly for industry. Thus, waste will be reused in the development of new products, strengthening the circular economy.

What are the impacts of iFood PEVs so far?

Today we have more than 7 thousand tons of waste that were recycled by cooperatives and iFood partners. With more than 1.1 thousand tons of plastics alone and working directly with the development of 16 Cooperatives.

In addition to sustainably impacting recycling work in Brazil, we mitigate environmental impacts by eliminating the disposal of recyclable waste to landfill, preserving around 44 thousand trees and avoiding the emission of approximately 18 thousand tons of CO2.

Socially, our projects generate income and new jobs, in addition to contributing to the quality of life of the collectors and cooperative members who contribute to our projects.
